REgistration Structure for 2025

Rugby Australia are standardising age based playing formats in 2025.  This won’t change when or how your child plays, just the name of the format in the registration system.

Minis will continue to play minis on Saturday morning, with younger groups again playing modified TriTag, although you will register for “Get into Rugby – Walla”, “Get into Rugby Tri Time” or XVs Juniors.

10s and above will play Sundays and register as usual as “XVs Juniors”.

See the age guide below.  if you turn 6 on any day between 1st Jan to 31 Dec 2025, you will be in Under 6, if to turn 11,  you will be in Under 11.

Before you start

Please carefully read the guide for the competition you are registering for and make sure you have the information you need to proceed.

Please have the following ready to go.

  • Active Kids Rebate vouchers if you wish to use them. Apply at Service NSW if you need to
  • A current photo of your child (head shot)
  • Know the current height and weight of your child
  • Know the clothing sizes of your child
  • If you are registering yourself as a club volunteer (Coach, Manager, Marshall, Assistant Ref etc) please have your WWC details available

Once you have all of these available, proceed with the registration process by using the link below or the Rugby Xplorer phone/tablet app.

Fees for 2025

Please note – there are a number of exciting changes to the Minis competition this year, with an expanded group of teams in our competition and some new tag rugby formats to help our minis learn the sport of Rugby Union!  As such the SJRU are now adminsistering the Minis competition with a full time resource employed to manage Minis, thus a small increase in competition fees this year for Minis, offset by a far better experience for our young players.

In addition to the training tee, players need to purchase socks and shorts from our club store partner. If you have existing current socks and shorts from a previous season that still fit, you do not need to purchase these additional items.

Age Groups

Players are encouraged to register and play in their correct age group.

  • ‘Minis’ are U6 to U9; and
  • ‘Juniors’ are U10 to U17’s/U18’s

If you would like your child to play in a different team please email our Registrar. You will NOT be able to register them in a different age group online. Once you have completed the registration process please email registrar@dural.rugby to advise which age group you wish your son to play in, so that the request can be considered.

Please note that this will depend on the size, weight and skill of the child as well as the numbers in the age group you are in or trying to go to. Transfers are not automatic.

Transfers and Imports

Each age group is limited to having a maximum number of players from another club join each age group. Please see the full ruling under the SJRU Competition Rules. Please be aware of this when asking players to join teams.

Contact the club Registrar with any questions about import or transfer eligibility.

Equipment Requirements

All players are required to wear a mouthguard for training and games, without exception.

We recommend each player to wear head gear and shoulder pads. All protective equipment should be accredited by the IRB. Our store partner Gilbert offers this equipment and often at a discounted rate.

The club develops a training shirt for use each season and also requires uniform shorts and socks be purchased for game day. On Game Day, players should arrive in their uniform shorts and socks plus training shirt for warmup and will be issued their game jersey prior to the game commencing.

The club will supply team equipment such as footballs, vests for officials and flags, as well as equipment used during training sessions.

Insurance

Dural Rugby Club recommends all players have private health insurance. Rugby Australia includes basic insurance cover as part of every player registration.
